Learning to read is a long journey. . . Get your child started on a positive path!
Before children learn to read, they need to build foundational skills. In order to become proficient readers, children must develop strong phonological awareness - the understanding that spoken language is made up of smaller parts from sentences, to words, to syllables, to sounds within words.
In the Pre-K Literacy Foundations group, children will develop strong phonological skills through word play that focuses on skills such as rhyme, alliteration, counting words, counting syllables, and beginning blending and segmenting of sounds within words when they are ready. Additionally, children will learn to identify and form uppercase and lowercase letters and will begin to associate letters with sounds. Children will build vocabulary and language comprehension through books read aloud. All instruction will be taught in a fun, enjoyable way to ensure your child develops a positive relationship with language and reading, right from the start.
Groups will meet for 45 minutes 1 time per week in 6-week sessions. Groups are in-person in Plymouth, MA. Masks are not currently required by subject to change. There will be a maximum of 4 students per group.
Session 1 groups will take place on Thursdays from 10:30-11:15 from September 16th to October 21st.
The cost of the program is $159 per student per 6 week session
*If you have a group of 4 friends/classmates who would like to arrange a separate time, please note in the comments below.
